We get many calls from interested home buyers wanting to build themselves a new custom home. A common discussion that many of these people have with us goes something like this. I’ve been looking at house plans and design’s online and found a few that I really like. What do I do next? Our first question back to them is to find out where they are considering building. We ask this because most home plans that are available for purchase online are not suitable for our local area. In other words, many stock plan companies are located out in California and those plans are not designed with our local building codes in our State. Many do offer a modification service, but the catch there is having the knowledge to tell them exactly what to change. Since most homeowners are not familiar with the International Residential Building Code, Cabo, Boca, Fire and Mechanical, National Electrical Code, Energy Code – this can be an overwhelming task. Then too since many prospective custom home buyers usually like many different features in many different plans we can custom create something unique for them. They may like the front elevation of plan-A, the 1st floor on plan-B, the master suite of plan-C, the kitchen / sitting area of yet another plan. We then can take all of their wish list and combine it to a very unique home customized just for them. In our opinion, if someone is going to spend as much money as they are considering when building a house – that they might as well design it exactly to their likings and not of some guy out in California. With our designs, we credit back the design cost as the new home is being built. Since ‘93, our in-house cadd department this has been our edge over our competition.
